Starting something New

Recently in class, we were tasked with creating a rational argument. I remember creating multiple argument essays and papers throughout middle and high school. However, I haven't heard of a "rational argumentative" essay. In grade school (elementary, middle, and high school), we were essentially taught and programmed to push out as many essays as possible. We'd focused on the number of pages, word count, and quantity rather than the quality. Also, teachers never taught me how to create high-quality or different types of essays. It's been mostly the same persuasive, argumentative, and informative essays we were assigned. So going into this new kind of essay gave me a bit of dread.

In the beginning, I had no clue what I wanted to do. I was absent the day the class shared their ideas and was already a step behind. I tried looking at the instructions but still didn't grasp what to do. Though, I did think of ideas and questions for when we met in class again. I came up with topics I possibly wanted to focus on, either swearing or procrastination. When we met again in class, I discovered that the rational argument is like any other argumentative essay but plays with both sides. A "rational argument" should be viewed as a micro-theme but with evidence and sources ("think Big Micro-theme).

I decided to find academic articles and sources on reasons why we procrastinate. So far, I have found 2-3 academic articles on google scholar about procrastination. I got an introduction and a couple of paragraphs on procrastination. Though, I am still not entirely confident that the sources I got are acceptable and that what I got on my paper is anywhere good. However, my goal now is to have a complete draft, revise it multiple times and ask more questions for this essay.

Overall, I feel that I am going in the right direction. I have at least two pages for my draft and got some questions cleared up in class. At first, I was worried and confused. Yet I achieved some progress with some time, patience, and help. The only thing that I can hope is I don't procrastinate on this final essay and create an acceptable rational argument!
