My First Sale
Money was always tight in my family. There were numerous times when I wanted a game but refrained from asking my parents. All because I was worried about money and not wanting to make my parents choose between my happiness and family finances. So with this constant stress and worry about money, I decided to find a way to make money on my own. There was a tiny spark of business inside of me ready to be lit up. The opportunity for me to make my first sale was given to me in 7th grade.
It was the middle of the school year in 7th grade. I was talking to a couple of my friends in class and I noticed one of them playing with some sort of cube-shaped toy. I asked them what it was and they told me it was a fidget toy. They gave me the toy to play around with for a little bit and instantly saw the appeal to them. At that moment, I realized that I saw something about the fidget cube toy on some YouTube videos. People were buying these toys and saying that they are the new "trend". However, my first sale wasn't with the cube fidget toys. The fidget cube was what gave me knowledge about trends and hot consumer products.

After a couple of weeks, a new fidget toy called the fidget spinner was trending. Kids that had the fidget spinner were instantly labeled the cool kid. People kept on begging others if they could play with their fidget spinners. With all this commotion, it also made me desire a fidget spinner. Not to be a cool kid but to own and play around with one. At the time I was still worried about money and didn't want to ask my dad for one. However, I came up with an idea. If I were to buy fidget spinners for a low cost and simply sold them at a price where people normally would buy them (around $15) then I wouldn't lose money but, make money. With this idea in mind, I went out and took action. I researched on amazon and saw that some fidget spinners were being sold at around 3 to 4 dollars. Before buying them, I asked my friends if there were willing to buy these fidget spinners for around 10 to 15 dollars. I managed to get 2 of my friends to agree on the deal. One of my friends would pay $10 and another one would pay $15. I went out and purchased 4 fidget spinners and waited for them to be delivered. Once they had arrived, I went out to my 2 customers and sold the fidget spinners. I had originally bought the fidget spinners for about $16 and just made $25. I made my money back and had 2 fidget spinners to still play around with.At the time, I didn't even notice it was my first-ever sale. I was just so ecstatic that I had made money on my fidget spinner deal and was able to keep 2 to play around with. My desire to own a fidget spinner was fulfilled and my money worries were gone. Right now in my life, I noticed that I turned my poor mindset on money into a strong one. I went from "I can't afford" to "How can I afford". (Quote by Robert Kiyosaki, creator of Rich Dad Poor Dad)
